KARELIA COSTALES

Biography

A singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, Karelia Costales was born in Guantánamo, Cuba. Originally from a family of musicians, she was influenced by her mother, Xiomara Méndez, who is a renowned singer. Her father, Roberto Costales, was her manager and producer. She first performed alongside her mother at the age of 10 when she discovered her true passion for singing and acting. As a young girl, she studied at a performing arts school and specialized in music (bass and piano). Wanting to establish her own professional music career, at 17 years old, she joined a talent troupe at “Tropicana Varadero” where she sang, danced and performed on the most important stages in Cuba. At age 18, she left Cuba for music opportunities in Southeast Asia where she lived for three years. She toured countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, further refining her musicianship and live performance skills. In 2017, she moved to Canada where her goal was to establish herself in the music industry and to demonstrate that dreams are possible through hard work and perseverance. She subsequently participated in the television program “La Voz US” in Miami in 2020 and “Canada’s Got Talent” in 2022. Karelia is currently writing and recording her debut album, which is scheduled to be released in 2024.
